Marketplace Logan x Tandem | Creative Proposal
Located in one of the major airports in the Northeast, Marketplace Logan has to continue to uphold a digital identity that matches its status. In the current digital landscape, video is the driving medium that powers marketing efforts and allows brands to tell a proper story. Our video concepts are designed to inspire travelers by showcasing the airport from the passenger's point of view, emphasizing the terminals ease, accessibility, and offerings. Our goal is to cater to the modern traveler and educate passengers prior to arrival, ultimately creating an easier experience while they move throughout the airport. Our vision is to take viewers on a stunning visual journey as they soar through each terminal, experiencing the airport's unique features and amenities. At Tandem, we believe in close collaboration with our clients to produce content that not only aligns with their brand identity but is also optimized for digital distribution. With our creative expertise and commitment to excellence, we are excited to bring the Boston Logan Airport to life in a way that inspires travelers to embark on new adventures with ease and excitement.
The Goal
At the heart of our Boston Logan terminal video concepts is a desire to inspire travelers and ignite a sense of wonder and excitement about the possibilities of travel. The goal is to create a comprehensive and visually stunning experience that showcases the airport from the passenger's point of view, emphasizing the ease and accessibility of the airport terminals. Through the lens of the video, passengers will be able to discover a multitude of amenities and services that are available to them, including a variety of dining options. By demonstrating the ease of navigation and the passenger experience, the video aims to inspire travelers to choose Boston Logan Airport as their preferred travel destination. With this video, we hope to spark a sense of adventure and exploration, encouraging travelers to embark on new journeys with confidence and ease.
Our Plan
To create an immersive point of view passenger experience, while simultaneously showcasing the shops and restaurants, we have developed a creative concept that seamlessly blends various visual elements. We recognize that each terminal is unique in its layout and shop placements, so our plan allows us to capture the essence of each one. We plan to break down the terminals into sections, using quick shots of every store or their signage, followed by a long and flowing "fly-through" shot to give viewers the experience of traveling through the terminal. This approach will provide a point of view journey, while also highlighting the different shops and restaurants in each section. By using these long "fly-through" shots, viewers will gain a clear understanding of the terminal's layout, as well as the location of each shop and restaurant. Ultimately, our goal is to create a video that not only showcases the ease and accessibility of the airport but also inspires viewers to explore the various shops and dining options available at Boston Logan.
In order to achieve the soaring, immersive shots we envision for these videos, we will utilize a dual-operated camera stabilizer, which provides unmatched stability and precision. This cutting-edge technology ensures that our shots remain smooth and steady, even while in motion. Paired with a rolling dolly system, we are able to move the camera quickly and fluidly through each terminal, allowing us to capture every detail and highlight the unique features of each space. This technique creates an unparalleled sense of movement, and the resulting video appears as if the camera is flying through the terminal, providing viewers with an unforgettable, magical experience.
Each Terminal will receive a unique video, cut into various formats listed in the project deliverables below. The overall airport will combine the best elements of each terminal video, to showcase the cohesion amongst the airport. If there are specific transportation elements between terminals, we can feature those as well.
We put together part of a written storyboard that explains our intended shot selection and layout of the video. The quick, closeup shots will showcase which shops/restaurants are in each section. The long shot, “fly throughs” will provide a sense of layout and accessibility in each section. The exact shot list will change depending on each terminal section. For this example, we used an area of Terminal A and broke it down into color coded sections below:
Written Storyboard:
Frame 1-5: Quick closeup shots of Terminal A Signage/Details
Frame 6: Long shot, “Fly Through” pushing into the terminal
Frame 7-11: Quick closeup shots of shops/restaurants in GREEN section
Frame 12: Long shot, “Fly Through” pushing through GREEN section
Frame 13-14: Quick closeup shots of shops/restaurants in BLUE section
Frame 15: Long shot, “Fly Through” pushing through BLUE section
Frame 16: Long shot, “Fly Through” pushing through YELLOW section
Frame 17-END: Continuing the above pattern
Visual Inspiration
We provided visual supplements to showcase the sense of “soaring” or “fly-through” shots we are describing. These were shot with aerial FPV drones, a type of technology that is off-limits for use in or around an airport, but our technique gives a similar effect without having to use aerial technology. Project Scope
Our team will handle all aspects of pre-production, including scheduling, storyboarding, and location-scouting. We will work closely with Marketplace Logan to determine a timeframe that works best, ensure that all details are carefully planned out before the shoot day, and will complete anything required for security clearance. Once filming is complete, our team will handle the post-production and editing process, working closely with Marketplace Logan in conjunction with Massport for input and feedback to ensure that the final product accurately represents the airport terminals and their shops/restaurants. We understand that things are constantly changing within the airport terminals, but our team is flexible and can work with Marketplace Logan to update the videos as needed.
